In the early hours of October 20, 2025, heavy machinery arrived at the corner of Taft & Westheimer to remove Houston’s iconic Pride Crosswalk: a symbol of love, safety, and visibility for generations of LGBTQ+ Houstonians.

This act, carried out under state pressure to erase “political ideologies” from our streets, has struck a deep chord in our community. But we know this: You can’t paint over Pride.
